High Powered Petrol Jet Washer on Red Block Paving

What a beautiful day to jet wash this stunning block-paving driveway! This particular project was a full garden overhaul that involved jet washing the driveway, paths, patio, and garden wall, lawn cutting, strimming the borders, and tree removal. On this project, we used a combination of a petrol-powered jet washing machine and a professional Karcher jet washing machine to jet wash the driveway and the patio. We were extremely happy with the results.

  • Nexus ProJoint TITAN – High Strength Epoxy Paving Grout

This particular product is a fast-setting epoxy paving grout, that is weather-resistant and comes in a variety of colours; basalt, mid-grey, and neutral. We always recommend using us, the professionals, to apply this mixture of sand and resin to your driveway due to its fast-setting nature. We enjoy using this product a lot and recommend it to our clients. Another sand we recommend to our clients is polymeric sand, as it shares similar properties in terms of weather resistance.

Halfway Through Sealing a Driveway, the Results Are Always Outstanding

We always recommend sealing the driveway, patio, and block paving as it helps protect the brickwork and stonework against the elements. The driveway, patio, and block paving sealer we use is also UV resistant. Sealing your driveway, patio, and block paving will also help protect against oil, fuel, and dirt. Sealing your bricks and stones helps bring out their naturally vibrant colours, and enhances the overall finish.

  • Flat Plate Petrol Powered Pressure Washer at Work

Professional jet washing takes time and a high level of skill. To create a professional finish on this driveway, we used a combination of the flat plate cleaner and the high-powered jet washing wand. Concrete driveways are prone to black spots, which are lichens or algae that can be unsightly to many, and over time can cause damage to the driveway, patio, or block paving surface. We removed the lichens and algae on this driveway by carefully and professionally jet washing those stubborn areas.

    Misting the Paving, (Delicately)

We very much enjoyed jet washing, and sanding this driveway, and watching it transform. To give this driveway a professional finish we used a Karcher professional jet washing machine, and Nexus ProJoint PolySweep: Polymeric Block Paving Sand in ‘silver grey‘. The misting of the sand, allows the water to percolate through the surface, helping create a firm joint.

On this project, we used a petrol-powered jet washer and a Karcher professional jet washer. To give the ultimate finish, we used Nexus ProJoint TITAN – High Strength Epoxy Paving Grout and Thompsons one coat patio and block paving sealer.

Compacting the Blocks, Filling the Voids With Sand

When we sand our clients block paving driveways, we always recommend we use Nexus ProJoint PolySweep: Polymeric Block Paving Sand. the sanding process begins by sweeping the sand into the joints, and then depending on the surface of the driveway, we may then use a wacker plate, to further compact the sand between the bricks. The wacker plate allows the sand to fill any voids, resulting in a more robust finish. Sometimes with newer driveways, the wacker plate is not necessary.

    Skilful Grouting of the Joints

We often recommend and use Nexus ProJoint TITAN – High Strength Epoxy Paving Grout to create a robust finish for our clients driveway. We start by pushing the grout between the joints using a large outdoor squeegee, then, with smaller squeegees we skillfully navigate the grout between the lines, filling any remaining voids, leaving a flush finish at the bricks surface.

Carefully removing Excess Sand From the Blocks

The gold standard of driveway restoration is jetwashing, sanding (using polymeric sand), and sealing. Once we have jet washed the driveway, the sanding process begins, and it starts with sweeping the polymeric sand between the bricks. We may then use a wacker plate (depending on the driveway’s condition) to compact the sand between the bricks, and then re-sand the driveway to fill any voids. We remove excess sand with a brush, and then with a leaf blower without removing sand from the joints.

Karcher Jet Washer Giving Outstanding Results

We always assess what type of equipment would be best suited to a clients jet washing job. We consider efficiency and results. For this job, we used a Karcher professional jet washing machine and the results were as always, amazing. Once jet washed, we sealed this driveway, which helps bring out the bricks natural vibrant colours and helps increase the lifespan of the bricks. The sealant we use is UV and weather-resistant.

Cleaning Whilst We Work Leaving Zero Mess for Our Clients

It is important to us that we clean the surfaces while we jet wash. Not only is it aesthetically pleasing for the client and their neighbours, but it helps us monitor our progress while we work. The cleaning while we work method helps us check off our work, highlighting any areas that need further cleaning, plus when it comes to sanding and sealing the driveway, the cleaning process helps keep any muck out of the joints, meaning a greater finish.

  • Sanding the Joints, With Nexus ProJoint Polymeric Sand

This project involved jet washing and sanding the clients driveway. We used a Karcher professional jet washing machine to clean the surface, and Nexus ProJoint PolySweep: Polymeric Block Paving Sand in silver grey to fill the joints. We use a soft brush, to fill the voids between the blocks. Once the sand is swept, we sometimes use a wacker plate (if the job requires it) to help the sand percolate through the gaps, to give a stronger joint, more sand can then be added to give a flush finish.

Cleaning the Surfaces Whilst We Work

We clean down all of the surfaces while we work. We appreciate clients letting us use their green waste bin, but we are always happy to take the waste away with us and dispose of it correctly. Cleaning the driveway surface, patio surface, and block paving while we jet wash makes for a more pleasant job for our clients and their neighbours, and helps us jet wash more efficiently, as we are not chasing around the muck that is removed from the work surface.

Detailing the Edges of a Path, Leaving Clear Contrasts Between the Old and New, As per the Clients Request

Jet washing a path in Hythe, Southampton, Hampshire. This was a great project and the results were so satisfying. The client wanted to create clear lines between the old stonework and the new stonework, and we were extremely pleased with the results, as the lines left such a beautiful contrast in colours. This project also included jet washing the clients driveway, and patio area.

Creating Clear Lawn Borders, Preparing the Path for Jet Washing

We take pride in our work and strive to create the best finish possible for our clients. Strimming the borders around the path created a better working area for jet washing. Preparing the area by strimming the path borders also helped showcase the result once the path had been jet washed. On this project, we used a petrol-powered jet washing machine, a Karcher professional jet washer, and Bosch and Mountfield gardening equipment.
