Jet Washing, Hampshire, UK

Our jet wash ‘Gold Standard’ for
driveways and block paving;

‘Jet Wash, Sand, and Seal’

The gold standard of driveway restoration is jetwashing, sanding (using polymeric sand), and sealing. Once we have jet washed the driveway, the sanding process begins, and it starts with sweeping the polymeric sand between the bricks. We may then use a wacker plate (depending on the driveway’s condition) to compact the sand between the bricks, and then re-sand the driveway to fill any voids. We remove excess sand with a brush, and then with a leaf blower without removing sand from the joints. We always recommend sealing the driveway, and block paving as it helps protect the brickwork and stonework against the elements. The driveway, and block paving sealer we use is also UV resistant. Sealing your driveway, and block paving will also help protect against oil, fuel, and dirt. Sealing your bricks and stones helps bring out their naturally vibrant colours, and enhances the overall finish.

Step 2

Step 3

  • How much will jet washing cost me?

To calculate the price of our jet washing services, we use three metrics; time, effort and the number of operators that would need to be involved. To help us with our metrics we take into account the following:

    • Type of surface, i.e. brick or stone, driveway, patio, block paving, walls, etc.

    • Area of surface in metres squared.

    • The state of what we would be jet washing, i.e. whether there are black spots (lichens or algae), weed coverage and depth, and the level of dirt on a surface.

A good example would be a block paving driveway that hasn’t been recently jet washed, that is in poor condition (surface algae, plus weeds and dirt between the bricks), measuring 100 metres squared, and might take 1 operator with a 3000psi professional jet washing machine a full 10 hour day costing between £500 - £700 plus VAT, jet washing only.

We charge a minimum rate of £125 plus VAT on any jet washing job. If the area we are jet washing is small, we will still need to charge £125 plus VAT as it covers our time; turning up, setting up, and doing the work. This isn’t a call-out fee and the £125 plus VAT isn’t added to any job price, it’s just a minimum rate.

Is there any pressure to accept a quotation?

None at all! We are happy to quote in person, but we can also quote over email or WhatsApp by seeing pictures and measurements. A client will never feel pressured by us to have any work done. Pushy sales are not our thing! We believe that our references, photos, videos, and the information presented on our website are enough to showcase what we do.

How long does professional jet washing take?

The time it takes to jet wash depends on the metrics listed above; type of surface, area of the surface, and state of the surface.

We are always very thorough, for example; when we jet wash between the brick and block surfaces we remove the weeds as far down to the root as possible. This takes time, and you could expect one of our operators to cover between 6 and 12 square metres per hour. Jet washing a wall may take less time as we do not necessarily need to remove weeds, however, walls can present their challenges, just like other surfaces including patios which often have stubborn areas like ‘black spot‘ (lichens and algae) that can be removed.

Is the sanding and sealing price included?

The sanding and sealing price is separate from jet washing. An example of our sanding costs would be; Nexus ProJoint PolySweep: Polymeric Block Paving Sand, which costs £32.39 per bag*. We calculate and include in the quotation the amounts of materials we will need to cover the measured areas, plus what we are charged for the delivery of the materials which is £78*. A sealant we often use is Thompsons One-Coat Patio & Block Paving Seal, which costs £31.99 per tin*.

  • Flat Plate Petrol Powered Pressure Washer at Work

Professional jet washing takes time and a high level of skill. To create a professional finish on this driveway, we used a combination of the flat plate cleaner and the high-powered jet washing wand. Concrete driveways are prone to black spots, which are lichens or algae that can be unsightly to many, and over time can cause damage to the driveway, patio, or block paving surface. We removed the lichens and algae on this driveway by carefully and professionally jet washing those stubborn areas.

We very much enjoyed jet washing, and sanding this driveway, and watching it transform. To give this driveway a professional finish we used a Karcher professional jet washing machine, and Nexus ProJoint PolySweep: Polymeric Block Paving Sand in ‘silver grey‘. The misting of the sand, allows the water to percolate through the surface, helping create a firm joint.
